Countertop bar stools – A normal height counter is between 34 and 36 inches. This includes kitchen and bathroom countertops. Normally, only kitchen counters have bar stools so that people sit along a protruding portion of the kitchen counter. For the typical bar counter in the kitchen, bar stools should be adjusted to the height of 36 inches, lower than the height of a bar at home. The use of a regular bar stool with a cantilever counter will not work because the stool is too high.
Countertop bar stools height is 42 inches from the floor, which is as much as 8 inches higher than a kitchen countertop. Therefore, if you decide to build a counter for a normal standard bar stool, you are in a sense only building a bar at 42 inches high. Some people choose to install a cantilevered bar height on top of a kitchen island to accommodate bar chairs. The cantilever is 42 inches high. This is not a typical bar but more of an extension of a counter. Any stool of the standard bar adjusts to this type of configuration.
Another option is to use countertop bar stools in the kitchen. The stool counter usually varies in height from 24 to 26 inches. This gives the user 10 inches of space below the counter for their legs and their body rests in a comfortable position just above the counter. If you use high stools this, the user’s legs will not fit under the counter and will feel too high for the meter.
